Pulling Back the Grace Covering

If you had a friend that had something physically wrong with them that was deteriorative and you had the ability to make them well, would you?

  • Neither will our heavenly Father leave us weak when He knows how to fix us.

We have deteriorative places in us from past sin, generational iniquities and injuries.

  • These places will weaken us, stunt our spiritual growth and eventually possibly kill us.

We are usually blind to the bondage in these areas.

  • This is why we don’t think they exist in us

Even if we would see what was wrong we wouldn’t know how to really fix it.

When we become God’s we get His protective covering

2 Thessalonians 3:3 NAS the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

2 Timothy 4:18 AMP [And indeed] the Lord will certainly deliver and draw me to Himself from every assault of evil. He will preserve and bring me safe unto His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen

God covers areas in us that would normally allow the enemy access in our lives.

To cause us to grow God pulls back the grace covering to expose a weak area.

  • This weak area will pull on you and tempt you.
  • You’ll think you’ve opened a door to the devil even though you can’t see where.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 NAS 7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me — to keep me from exalting myself! 8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Just like Jesus, God fills us to send us into battle

Luke 3:21-22 & 4:1-2a NAS 21 Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased." 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil.

1 Peter 5:6-11 NAS 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

James 4:5b-8 NAS "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

  1. Be humble about yourself and the possible weakness.
    • Admit you possible have weak places
  2. Submit to God’s process
    • Nobody likes to suffer or be uncomfortable but complaining & whining will remove you from God’s process.
  3. Resist wrong action and thought
    • Right action fixes
  4. Seek to know spiritual ways to handle this.
  5. Confess to yourself that God is at work in you and you’ll be stronger because of it.
    • Philippians 2:12-15 NAS 12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world
    • Philippians 1:6 NKJV being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ

Philippians 1:6 The Passion Translation I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put His finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!
