Quotes

  • Obedience does not earn favor with God.
  • God DOES NOT like or love us any more when were are obedient.
  • God’s intent towards us does not change when we are obedient or disobedient.
  • Obedience DOES open the door to the blessed life.
    • Not because God chooses to reward the obedient, but obedience is choosing the life that is blessed and disobedience is choosing the life that is already.

Scriptures

Isaiah 1:19-20 "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.”

John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see (Greek: experience) life, but the wrath (Greek: punishment or judgment) of God abides on him."

  • John 12:31 "Now judgment is upon this world"
  • John 16:11 "the ruler of this world has been judged."

1 Samuel 15:22-23 "But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king."

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 "Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. "All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God…"

Deuteronomy 28:15 "But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you…"

John 14:15 "If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands."
