Be Joyful

We were created to exist in the garden.

  • The things of the Fallen Realm we're paid for to be recovered through the cross.

  • Our brains Were Meant to function without Darkness

  • When we allow things of Darkness to enter in then our brain start to function wrongly.

The Brain Chemicals That Make You Happy (And How To Trigger Them)

"When we ask ourselves what makes us happy, we often think of the circumstances, possessions, or people in our lives. In reality, happiness is largely a chemical experience. Four main neurochemicals, hormones, and neurotransmitters generated in the brain are fundamentally responsible for creating the sensations and emotions we've come to associate with happiness.

This is actually great news. It means even when circumstances, possessions, or people in our lives aren't exactly as we'd like them to be, there are simple ways we can increase our happy brain chemicals and alter our moods."

   1. Endorphins deal with physical pain.

   2. Serotonin is the happiness and well being chemical

   3. Dopamine is the "chemical of reward." When you accomplish a task, you receive a pleasurable hit of dopamine in your brain that tells you you’ve done a good job. But you can also get a natural dose of dopamine when you perform acts of kindness toward others.

   4. Oxytocin is primarily associated with loving touch and close relationships.

Galatians 5:22 ESV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace...

John 16:24 ESV Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Proverbs 17:22 ESV A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

“Happiness is done in by the first harsh blow that life deals you”  - Jordan Peterson

“When you tell someone that happiness is the goal you set them up for failure”  - Jordan Peterson

2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV 1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be...4 lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.

  • Perilous (Greek) Dangerous or difficult to reduce strength

  • lovers of pleasure (philÄ“donoi) loving pleasure from philos and hédoné

  • lovers of God (philotheoi) loving God from philos and theos

+ Your joy has nothing to do with anyone else. +

James 1:2-4 NKJV 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

  • count it (Greek) hégeomai: to lead, suppose (assume that something is the case)

    • Make your mind lead with the assumption of the positive

Making Happy Happen In Your Brain

"When you understand what’s going on in your brain, you can begin to influence it to your benefit. You can stimulate more happy chemicals when you know the job they evolved to do and what causes their release for you.

Your brain got wired from your individual past experiences, and the neurochemical patterns for every person are different. Each time your neurochemicals surged, your brain built connections and is wired now to turn on your brain chemicals in the same ways they were activated in the past."

Keys to maintaining peace and joy:

  • Be thankful for what you have

  • Stop allowing yourself to be lured into focusing on what you don’t have.

  • Take 2-3 minutes in your day to read or remember the positive in your life.

  • Don’t allow the pain of the periodical negative draw you from all the positive in your life.

We have the ability to change what produces the the feelings of happiness in the brain.

Psalm 47:1 NIV (You) Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.

  • This can’t be just when someone feels joy.

Isaiah 9:3 NIV You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.

Proverbs 10:28 ESV The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
