Trained for the Kingdom

What would being trained by Jesus look like?

If God is saying something to a generation do we need to hear it?

Is it important that the person teaching us tells us what God is saying?

EVERY service is crucial

What if there’s a huge fb game coming up

  • Coach Bailey is teaching how to defend against the other team defensively
  • And he’s putting in 5 new plays offensively
    • A player decides to come to half the practices

2 Timothy 4:2-5 NAS 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove (Gr. tell a fault), rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

  • 2 Timothy 4:2 NLT correct, rebuke, and encourage
    • This is what Jesus did
    • If we won’t accept these things from Jesus delegated authority we wouldn’t from Him

Vs 3 accumulate for themselves teachers

  • Don’t we all gravitate to teachers we like?
  • “after their own lusts”
    • It’s not people we agree with, it’s people we hear the Father’s voice through
    • We don’t stop with them because they tell us things we don’t like to hear

Acts 20:27-30 AMP 27 For I never shrank or kept back or fell short from declaring to you the whole purpose and plan and counsel of God. 28 Take care and be on guard for yourselves and the whole flock over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you bishops and guardians, to shepherd (tend and feed and guide) the church of the Lord or of God which He obtained for Himself [buying it and saving it for Himself] with His own blood. 29 I know that after I am gone, ferocious wolves will get in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 Even from among your own selves men will come to the front who, by saying perverse (distorted and corrupt) things, will endeavor to draw away the disciples after them [to their own party].

Do we only want to hear what is comfortable to us or do we want to be made ready for the kingdom?

We must establish a trust with God's delegated gifts.

There is this thought that if it’s God it will always be positive and uplifting.

Understand I, as a pastor, at different times:

    ~Teach     ~Prophesy     ~Chase away wolves

  • Sometimes when the wolf chasing is done we recognize the wolfy places in us and it's hard to trust that the wolf chaser isn't against us now

What if the following spirit is in a particular service?

Matthew 15:1-14 NAS 15 Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, 2 "Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." 3 And He answered and said to them, "Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?  4 "For God said, 'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER,' and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH.'  5 "But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,"  6 he is not to honor his father or his mother.' And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.  7 "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: 8 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 9 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'" 10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand.  11 "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." 12 Then the disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?" 13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.  14 "Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

We are being trained to rule our Father’s kingdom

Galatians 4:1-7 GOD'S WORD 1 Let me explain further. As long as an heir is a child, he is no better off than a slave, even though he owns everything. 2 He is placed under the control of guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. 3 It was the same way with us. When we were children, we were slaves to the principles of this world. 4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son into the world. A woman gave birth to him, and he came under the control of God's laws. 5 God sent him to pay for the freedom of those who were controlled by these laws so that we would be adopted as his children. 6 Because you are God's children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into us to call out, "Abba! Father!" 7 So you are no longer slaves but God's children. Since you are God's children, God has also made you heirs.

Is it important who we’re trained by

It is so important for us to be trained today

Tie everything to heaven or hell

If a situation is uncomfortable is that always bad

Are we to have a respect for a cop or judge

If someone is thinking of robbing your house do you want them uncomfortable with that idea based on them getting caught and imprisoned?

If we are violating the law is being uncomfortable bad?

Separate the chastisement of the Lord from being imprisoned

Realize your age in God and know that He will deal with you accordingly.

Get the scriptures that define age and evaluate yourself

There was an age when my boys did not get spanked

They had to learn from the result of their action

They are not afraid of daddy spanking them

But they have learned to have a fear or respect of their actions handing them painful repercussions

This is the fear of the Lord

When you read the Bible, define the ”age” of the mankind that God is detailing with

Separate proper fear from phobic fear
