  • God needs us to stand between people and what they’ve opened to

Ezekiel 22:24-31 NAS 24 "Son of man, say to her, 'You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.' 25 "There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst like a roaring lion tearing the prey. They have devoured lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in the midst of her. 26 "Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the profane, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 27 "Her princes within her are like wolves tearing the prey, by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to get dishonest gain. 28 "Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, 'Thus says the Lord God,' when the Lord has not spoken. 29 "The people of the land have practiced oppression and committed robbery, and they have wronged the poor and needy and have oppressed the sojourner without justice. 30 "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. 31 "Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads," declares the Lord God.

  • As we intercede we dig, plead, cover, release God into a situation, etc.

Beni Johnson - How to Pray: Lessons for Effective Prayer: In prophetic intercession, the roles of priest and prophet are brought together. Not all prophets are intercessors, and not all priests are prophets. But when these two come together, it can be powerful! In authentic prophetic intercession, the graces and burdens of the prophet and the priest are united. The priest pleads the needs of the people to the Lord. The prophet pleads the interests of God before the people. The prophetic intercessor does both.

Beni Johnson - How to Pray: Lessons for Effective Prayer: As an intercessor rises in worship, he or she becomes securely seated with Christ Jesus in the heavenly places. As a result, the intercessor receives a revelation of His heart. With that revelation, the intercessor is able to pray with God instead of merely to Him from his or her own limited perspective and passion. The intercessor becomes prophetic. The words of intercession become reiterations of God’s Word. They match up with the will of God. The prophetic intercessor pleads the promises of God.

  • Prayer for unjust imprisonment:

Acts 12:5-13 NAS 5 So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God. 6 On the very night when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards in front of the door were watching over the prison. 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter's side and woke him up, saying, "Get up quickly." And his chains fell off his hands. 8 And the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and put on your sandals." And he did so. And he said to him, "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me." 9 And he went out and continued to follow, and he did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. 10 When they had passed the first and second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened for them by itself; and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. 11 When Peter came to himself, he said, "Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent forth His angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting." 12 And when he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John who was also called Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying.

Quote from The Hidden Power of Speaking in Tongues by Mahesh Chavda

It has been said that nature abhors a vacuum. The same is true in the realm of the spirit. Any environment or circumstance of mankind will be governed either by the Spirit of God or the spirit of darkness; there is no middle ground. At least over the short term, which spirit prevails depends largely on the choices that people make.

In the early years of the twentieth century, the pouring out of the Holy through the prayers and preaching of a simple black man named “Papa” Seymour on Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California, resulted in a spiritual phenomenon on a scale unseen since the first century. The birth of the modern Pentecostal movement brought together people of all races, rich and poor, to worship and serve God. Unusual signs and manifestations, including speaking in tongues, accompanied that outpouring. The revival that began at Azusa Street spread across the United States and even crossed the Atlantic Ocean to fall in Wales and other locations in Europe. God was sending a fresh spiritual rain over the earth.

As this spiritual rain front moved across Europe, it arrived in Germany at just the right moment to protect her culture, churches, and people from the spirit of antichrist that was arising in the nation. A Pentecostal revival broke out in the the German city of Kassel, but died quickly because of the opposition of German evangelical church leaders. Theologians weighed in, calling on their educational background and human reason in an effort to dissect the work of the third Person of the Godhead. They critically analyzed the phenomenon of the Holy Spirit and the unusual manifestations of these revivals and found them wanting.

In 1909, 56 conservative evangelical German church leaders issued a joint statement called the Berlin Declaration, in which they soundly condemned the Pentecostal movement. The declaration stated, in part:

This so-called Pentecostal movement is not from above, but from below; many of its phenomena can also be found in spiritism. Demons are at work here who, led by Satan’s cunning, mix truth and lies in order to entice the children of God…the personal faith and dedication of some leading brothers and sisters cannot deceive us, not even the healings, tongues, prophecies, etc.…the movement brings forth powerful spiritual and physical manifestations.. .like falling, face twitching, trembling and shaking, screaming, ugly and loud laughing…such phenomena are not worked by God…The persons transmitting [prophecies] are often women. This had the effect that in some areas women, even young women, stand as leaders in the center of ministry—which is clearly against the Word.

With these and many more references the German Church refused her only weapon against the spirit of antichrist—the weapon of the anointing. Five years later, Germany plunged herself and much of the rest of the world into the fiery cauldron of World War I, a conflict that consumed the cream of an entire generation of European manhood. The spiritual vacuum created by Germany’s rejection of the Holy Spirit intensified in the economic and social devastation that followed the war, creating an opportunity for the spirit of antichrist to fill the gap with the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. That evil spirit engulfed the globe in the horror and unbelievable brutality of the Second World War. As a result, 55 million people around the world died.

The spirit realm abhors a vacuum. When individuals, churches, or cultures reject the Holy Spirit, they create a vacuum which the spirit of antichrist rushes to fill.
