FAITH & PATIENCE – FAITH IN FINANCE

November 4, 2015

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  Jeremiah 29:11

expected (Hebrew)  literally, a cord (as an attachment)

“By Faith                                                                                 & Patience                                                              we inherit the promises.”

God’s Promise-We Choose It                                                                 Our Part                                                                        God’s Part

I. Love is pursuing His bride to expose those things in our heart, the thorns, the idolatry so that we can separate from them.  He wants us to have a harvest of prosperity even more than we want it.  But we have to be free from Mammon and the Babylonian system, our hearts have to be healed and made whole because only those with hearts of good soil can receive a harvest.

Matthew 13:23 NASB:  "And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man

who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit, and brings forth, some a

hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty."

          A. A heart that is free from thorns, free from idols & from Mammon, is a pure heart, a heart of      good soil.  When we can tear down idolatry in our hearts, then we can unlock our harvest.

          B. The heart of good soil can see the Kingdom, can hear what the Lord is saying, and can       understand and grasp what He is saying.  Deceitful riches or bowing to Mammon cause our     hearts to be dull or divided

Matthew 13:14-15 NASB: …You will keep on hearing, but will not understand;

And you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive; 15 For the heart of this people has become dull,

And with their ears they scarcely hear, And they have closed their eyes Lest they should see

with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart and return,

And I should heal them.'

          C. Everything we have been going through over the years is a process He has been using to

train us & prepare us for harvest.  He is taking us from faith to faith.

II. Deceitful Riches – Serving Mammon

Mark 10:21-25 AMP:  21 And Jesus, looking upon him, loved him, and He said to him, You lack one thing;

go and sell all you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come [and] accompany Me [walking the same road that I walk].  22 At that saying the man's countenance fell and was gloomy,

and he went away grieved and sorrowing, for he was holding great possessions. 23 And Jesus looked around and

said to His disciples, With what difficulty will those who possess wealth and  keep on holding it enter the kingdom

of God! 24 And the disciples were amazed and bewildered and perplexed at His words. But Jesus said to

them again, Children, how hard it is for those who trust (place their confidence, their sense of safety) in riches

to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man

to enter the kingdom of God.

III. True Riches – Serving God

Mark 10:28 AMP:  28 Peter started to say to Him, Behold, we have yielded up and abandoned everything

[once and for all and joined You as Your disciples, siding with Your party] and accompanied You

[walking the same road that You walk].

          A. Giving Him everything – whole heart – lovesick for Jesus

          B. Everything we do is motivated by love for Him

          C. Qualifies us for multiplication and increase, for the 100 fold return

Mark 10:29-30 KJV:  29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man

that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake,

and the gospel's, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters

, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

          D. The 100 fold return will only enable us to increase the harvest of our righteousness to      establish His covenant on the earth.

2 Corinthians 9:10 NASB:  Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food,

 will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;

IV. Example of David Oyedepo in Nigeria

Jeremiah 33:20-21 KJV: 20 Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant

of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; 21 Then may also my covenant be

broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites

 the priests, my ministers.

Genesis 8:22 KJV:  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat,

and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

If we can’t serve God & mammon, what is the difference?

Acts 4:32-5:2 NAS 32 And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them. 33 And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. 34 For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales 35 and lay them at the apostles' feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need.

36 Now Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), 37 and who owned a tract of land, sold it and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Fate of Ananias and Sapphira

1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, 2 and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife's full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles' feet.

Julie: Mammon & Poverty

Let’s look at biblical examples of wealth

1 Timothy 6:17-19 NAS 17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

Marilyn: Mark 10:21-25 AMP 21 And Jesus, looking upon him, loved him, and He said to him, You lack one thing; go and sell all you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come [and] accompany Me [walking the same road that I walk]. 22 At that saying the man's countenance fell and was gloomy, and he went away grieved and sorrowing, for he was holding great possessions. 23 And Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, With what difficulty will those who possess wealth and keep on holding it enter the kingdom of God! 24 And the disciples were amazed and bewildered and perplexed at His words. But Jesus said to them again, Children, how hard it is for those who trust (place their confidence, their sense of safety) in riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Mark 10:28-30 AMP 28 Peter started to say to Him, Behold, we have yielded up and abandoned everything [once and for all and joined You as Your disciples, siding with Your party] and accompanied You [walking the same road that You walk]. 29 Jesus said, Truly I tell you, there is no one who has given up and left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for My sake and for the Gospel's 30 Who will not receive a hundred times as much now in this time — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life.

He was “holding great possessions”

Julie: John – Don’t hold on to things to tightly

The New Testament pattern is to bring it to the apostles and it be in their control

Marilyn: Deceitful & True riches

  • When you are under the control of mammon you want to use money to build YOUR kingdom from YOUR vision.

Is God building a housing in you to handle the power that is coming?

  • Example of the engine block

God is working in us now to prepare us for the upcoming outpouring of power

Deuteronomy 8:2-5 NAS 2 You shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 "He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. 4 "Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. 5 "Thus you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

Deuteronomy 8:11-19 NAS 11 "Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes which I am commanding you today; 12 otherwise, when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and lived in them,  13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold multiply, and all that you have multiplies, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 15 "He led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water; He brought water for you out of the rock of flint. 16 "In the wilderness He fed you manna which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end. 17 "Otherwise, you may say in your heart, 'My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.' 18 "But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19 "It shall come about if you ever forget the Lord your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you will surely perish.

Our giving control over our money is releasing our ability to generate increase in wrong ways.

  1. Marilyn: When you’re generous, people have an expectation that you’ll give to them.
  2. Do we treat people with money differently than we treat those who can’t give us anything?
    1. James 2:1-6 NAS 1 My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. 2 For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, 3 and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool," 4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? 5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

1st things 1st – Pastor Daryl Clip

$$ He gives power to get wealth

What is power?

  • Power over placement = $$ Seek 1st kingdom
  • Power over fear =
  • Power over superiority = $$ Know it was not of your hand – Societal desire
  • Power over self-control – Strong’s: to exercise self-restraint

Marilyn: Joseph’s preperation

Galatians 5:19-25 AMP 19 Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, 20 Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), 21 Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, 23 Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge]. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. 25 If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]

Sandie Freed - Crushing the Spirits of Greed and Poverty: If we set our hearts toward things rather than His Kingdom, then those things become our treasure. If we set our hearts toward selfish gain, then we will open doors for chronic dissatisfaction. It is only when we set our hearts toward the Kingdom that we are truly blessed and fully satisfied. True treasure is knowing God and doing His perfect will.

During this blessing that I could see only as a crisis, I also began to battle against a lustful desire for more. Chronic dissatisfaction and idolatry had overtaken me because I had opened the door to Mammon, who was trying to take me captive. You see, when Mammon is involved we develop an ungodly need to “compete with the Joneses.” We begin to covet, and Mammon convinces us to buy more things in order to appear successful or feel acceptable to others. This evil spirit tells us that we are “less than” if we do not have designer handbags or expensive automobiles. If we are not cautious, we can easily be seduced into believing that we need more, more and more! Before we know it, we have fallen into Mammon’s trap.

My spoiled rotten attitude was ridiculous and ungodly. I had little energy to work on the ranch because I was using all of my energy to murmur. I was tired every day because I ran my mouth all day long. It became exhausting, I can assure you. And most importantly, it greatly displeased God. I am amazed at how quickly Mammon can move in and take over a person’s thoughts and life. For me, it truly began with dissatisfaction. It was so hidden in my heart that I did not realize it was there. Not yet confronted by God’s finger of deliverance, the dissatisfaction mushroomed into alarming levels of chronic dissatisfaction, which is linked to a spirit of whoredoms. The spirit of whoredoms is linked to spiritual adultery, which is connected to idolatry. Mammon is an idol, remember? He seeks to be worshiped, and chronic dissatisfaction leads us directly into bowing down to him.
