Faith and Patience Series

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  Jeremiah 29:11

expected (Hebrew)  literally, a cord (as an attachment)

“By Faith                                                                         & Patience                                                       we inherit the promises.”

Proverbs 10:22 AMP:  22 The blessing of the Lord — it makes [truly] rich, and He adds

no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].

I. The Earth’s Two Financial Systems – Serving God or Serving Mammon

Matthew 6:24 AMP:  24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love

the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot

serve God and mammon ( deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).

Luke 16:13 AMP: ….You cannot serve God and mammon (riches, or

anything in which you trust and on which you rely).

   A. Original intent, God’s system of provision, THE BLESSING System

Genesis 1:28 AMP:  28 And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth,

and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the

fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.

            1. In the beginning His system was the only way of doing things in the earth.  This was heaven’s system

            as it is today.

            2. His original intention was to empower man to prosper and increase by THE BLESSING, by His Word       to them.  The man would not only be abundantly provided for, but through his abundance and increase        he would:

                        a. Serve God

                        b. Serve man

            3. Here we see God’s heart not only for Adam but for all mankind:

                        a. His desire for us is Blessing.  He is a Blesser, and He wants us blessed.

                        b. He wants to be our Provider, as we seek Him and His Kingdom ways first and obey Him.

                        c. He wants to be our Source with our trust and reliance on Him.

                        c. He wants to be a God to us.

Philippians 4:19 AMP: 19 And my God will liberally supply ( fill to the full)

your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

            4. This system of trusting and relying on God for our provision has no sorrow with it, and toiling does      not increase it.

Proverbs 10:22 AMP:  22 The blessing of the Lord — it makes [truly] rich, and He adds

no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].

B. The Earth Cursed System – Never His Intention

Genesis 3:17-19 AMP:  And to Adam He said, Because you have listened and given heed to the voice of

your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it, the ground

is under a curse because of you; in sorrow and toil shall you eat [of the fruits]of it all the days of your life.

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth for you, and you shall eat the plants of the field.  19 In

the sweat of your face shall you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were

taken; for dust you are and to dust you shall return.

            1. This earth-cursed system entered into the earth through man believing and acting on satan’s seducing    words rather than believing and acting on God’s Word.

            2. The “seduction” was:

                        a. that God didn’t really have their best interest at heart.

                        b. that God didn’t really mean what He said.

                        c. that they really didn’t need God, that they could work out their own way of doing things.

                        d. This was the introduction or release of the doctrine of humanism in the earth.

            3. This system under the curse brought the first mention of “sorrow and toil”.

   C. As Adam and Eve were given the “choice” to believe God and serve Him and His Blessing System, so are

we today given that same choice.

Proverbs 10:22 AMP:  22 The blessing of the Lord — it makes [truly] rich,

and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].

II. In Genesis 10, 11 we see the earth-cursed system becoming the Babylonian system through a descendant of

another of Noah’s sons, Ham.  History tells us his grandson, Nimrod, said to be a “mighty hunter for the

Lord”, became a mighty hunter of men to rule over and set up his own kingdom, his own way of doing

       things independent of God’s Word.

  1. By looking into Nimrod’s kingdom, or the Babylonian system, we can better understand what it means to serve Mammon.
  1. Nimrod had his own way of doing which was in total rebellion to God’s system.  He was an idol worshipper with his primary idol being Mammon. Mammon was named after the Cushite idol, Ammon Re, whose name means hidden or in Egypt he was called Ra.  This idol was considered the father of all gods, meaning that he was the creator of every human being and all creatures.
  2. Our entire world economy, therefore, is rooted in a false and evil god.
  3. This system says, “Let us”….do our finances our own way.  “Let us”….make a name for ourselves.

(Gen. 11)

  1. This system is fueled by the love of money:

1 Tim 6:9-10 NKJV:  Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into

many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the

love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered

from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

  1. This system is totally opposite of God’s kingdom Blessing system. This system opposes God, His Word, and all prophetic declarations concerning future provisions.  It is based on:
  1.  making a name for ourselves—pride and arrogance
  2. putting our security in uncertain riches instead of the Living God
  3. greed and covetousness -

Colossians 3:5 AMP: So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: ….and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God)

  1. It is a system of bondage and slavery.

III. God’s Good Plan Included “the Remedy” to bring THE BLESSING back into the earth.

Genesis 3:15 NKJV:  15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your

seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."

    A. After the flood of Genesis 6, THE BLESSING was once again spoken over Noah and his sons.

    (Gen. 9:1-3)

            1. Through Noah’s son, Shem, the Promised Seed would come.

            2. God called a man from Shem’s lineage named, Abram (later called Abraham), to be the father of the     family that would bring forth the Promised Seed:

Genesis 12:2,3 AMP:   2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant

increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing

good to others]. 3 And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you

earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].

           3. The language of THE BLESSING:

                        a. “I will make” you a great nation

                        b. “I will bless you (with abundant increase of favors)

                        c. “I will make” your name famous and distinguished

                        d. “you will be a blessing” (dispensing good to others)

IV. Soul Prosperity = Renewing or renovation of our minds to transformation or change

  1. Babylonian, earth-cursed system’s lower thoughts and lower ways uprooted and destroyed
  2. Every idol or connection to Mammon in our hearts brought to the Light, bringing repentance and cleansing, no longer bowing to fear, worry, anxiousness over finances and provision
  1. Deceitful or uncertain riches no longer choking the Word from us, causing us to miss our harvest

(Matthew 13:22)

  1. God’s Kingdom system, higher thoughts and higher ways, implanted in our minds and hearts, able to receive our harvest of 30, 60, and 100 fold (Matthew 13:23)
  2. Freedom to serve and honor God alone, ready to handle His Kingdom wealth

Isa 48:17 AMP:  17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the

Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way that you should go.

God's System vs the Earth System

MARILYN - Cannot serve God and mammon

Earth cursed system & God blessed system or God’s system of blessing

BOB - Sandie Freed - Crushing the Spirits of Greed and Poverty: Poverty is the voice that says, “God is not able!” Two of the most common means by which poverty takes hold are oppression and wrong authoritative structures. Fear can cause us to develop a mentality of covetousness or gluttony that produces poverty. Poverty causes us to become indolent or lazy. Haste leads to poverty, which occurs when we fall into get-rich quick schemes. Poverty can also occur if we resist the Holy Spirit, thereby negating the blessings of the Lord. What causes poverty in our lives? The main cause is failure to gather in the harvest, which sets a poverty mentality against us. Many times the enemy will wait until our harvest time to implement strategies of devastation against us. Like the Midianites who stole the harvest from the Israelites, the enemy has already devised a plan to eat up our assets and returns. We can plant. We can watch our crops grow. We can even enjoy a time of harvest. But if we do not take our opportunity to gather and steward the harvest, a strategy of poverty will begin to develop against us. When we increase without building storehouses to contain what we have harvested, the enemy will gain access to our excess and to our future.

Matthew 25:14-30 NAS 14 "For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them.  15 "To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey.  16 "Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents.  17 "In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more.  18 "But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. 19 "Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.  20 "The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, 'Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.'  21 "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.' 22 "Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, 'Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.'  23 "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.' 24 "And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed.  25 'And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.' 26 "But his master answered and said to him, 'You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed.  27 'Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest.  28 'Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.' 29 "For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.  30 "Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:44 NAS "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Matthew 13:44-46 NAS 45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls,  46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Matthew 20:1-16 NAS "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.  2 "When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.  3 "And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the market place;  4 and to those he said, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' And so they went.  5 "Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did the same thing.  6 "And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing around; and he said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day long?'  7 "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You go into the vineyard too.' 8 "When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last group to the first.'  9 "When those hired about the eleventh hour came, each one received a denarius.  10 "When those hired first came, they thought that they would receive more; but each of them also received a denarius.  11 "When they received it, they grumbled at the landowner,  12 saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.'  13 "But he answered and said to one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius?  14 'Take what is yours and go, but I wish to give to this last man the same as to you.  15 'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?'  16 "So the last shall be first, and the first last."
