Leader: Tharina Petersen
“In His Arms,” is a Ministry that is in the Heart of the Petersen Family, and the loving members of Lamar Family Ministries Center. Our Vision is to reach women who are currently working in the sex industry in Missouri & Kansas, and to let them know that there is a God who Loves them beyond measure.
Our goal is to reach and rescue them, teach them how to embrace the destiny that God has planned for them. Then send them back out as harvesters, to Love, Encourage, and Witness to their Sisters. We at the very core and heart of LFMC have been trained and prepared by Pastors Bob & Julie to welcome, accept, and Love these girls. They have a safe place to come, judgment free, on their own terms. Pastor Bob will provide them this environment as the strong and protective shepherd he is...FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES FOR THEM TO MAKE A DECISION FOR GOD. We will get them away from this lifestyle by providing sound biblical guidance and direction for situations brought about by their choices. The major effects of this business is substance abuse, pregnancy, occultism, prostitution, abortion, etc. By expressing and demonstrating Jesus’ unconditional love, we help them to deal constructively with the consequences that this lifestyle brings. These girls are living with guilt, depression, oppression, loneliness, confusion, hurt, anger, and shame ~ I know, I was one of them. My name is Tharina Petersen, I am the founder of, “In His Arms.” Please read under the “Staff,” page for more of my story. The “In His Arms,” outreach team visits strip clubs in Missouri and Kansas. We give out gift bags filled with cosmetics, jewelry, and lots of other Girly Goodies. We include the simple message that the women working in these clubs are the “loved beyond measure, daughters of a King!” We give them books donated by Joyce Meyer Ministries, my personal testimony, and contact information for us.
• More women are employed by the sex industry than any other time in history…
• There are more strip clubs in the United States than any other nation in the world…
• Between 66-90% of women in the sex industry were sexually abused as children…
• Compared to the general population, women in the sex industry experience
higher rates of… Substance Abuse Issues, Rape and Violent Assault,
Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Domestic Violence, Depression,
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
The women in this industry face a myriad of issues that impact their physical,
emotional, and spiritual well-being. They are a largely unreached population
and many feel desperately isolated and alone. Even those who would
contemplate going to church wonder if there truly is a place for them there.
Will they find the restoration they are seeking in the house of God?
If you are a dancer checking us out...please know that you can start your journey back to Wholeness~ with us, with our Jesus and his death that makes all things new. I am a new creature, imperfect but forgiven. Grateful and striving, and praying ... praying for YOU who are reading this, to you out there in this world, who are hurting and broken. Hear me, precious sister. He is waiting for you to cry out to Him. He is all you have ever needed and more that you ever wanted!
